Minus-C subfamily has diverged from Classic odorant-binding proteins in honeybees

چکیده

Abstract Odorant-binding proteins (OBPs) in insects bind to volatile chemical cues that are important regulating insect behavior. It is hypothesized OBPs with specificity certain volatiles and may help transport delivery odorant receptors (ORs), buffering the olfactory response aid various behaviors. Honeybees eusocial perceive strongly rely on them perform complex Here, we have identified annotated odorant-binding few chemosensory from genome of dwarf honey bee, Apis florea , using an exhaustive homology-based bioinformatic pipeline analyzed evolutionary relationships between OBP subfamilies. Our study confirms Minus-C subfamily bees has diverged Classic proteins.

Characterization of a Subfamily of Beetle Odorant-binding Proteins Found in Hemolymph*□S

In insects, hydrophobic odorants are transported through the sensillar lymph to receptors on sensory neurons by odorant-binding proteins (OBPs). The beetle Tenebrio molitor, which is a pest of stored grain products, produces a set of 12–14-kDa OBP-like proteins in its hemolymph. The structure of one of these proteins and that of a moth pheromone-binding protein have been solved. Both proteins h...

Myosin Binding Protein-C Slow: An Intricate Subfamily of Proteins

Myosin binding protein C (MyBP-C) consists of a family of thick filament associated proteins. Three isoforms of MyBP-C exist in striated muscles: cardiac, slow skeletal, and fast skeletal. To date, most studies have focused on the cardiac form, due to its direct involvement in the development of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Here we focus on the slow skeletal form, discuss past and current liter...

Are odorant-binding proteins involved in odorant discrimination?

Pheromone-sensitive sensilla trichodea of nine moth species belonging to six families and three superfamilies of Lepidoptera were immunolabelled with an antiserum against the pheromone-binding protein of Antheraea polyphemus. Strong immunolabelling of the sensillum lymph was observed in all long sensilla trichodea of A. polyphemus, A. pernyi (Saturniidae), Bombyx mori (Bombycidae) and Manduca s...

Conserved Odorant-Binding Proteins from Aphids and Eavesdropping Predators

BACKGROUND The sesquiterpene (E)-ß-farnesene is the main component of the alarm pheromone system of various aphid species studied to date, including the English grain aphid, Sitobion avenae. Aphid natural enemies, such as the marmalade hoverfly Episyrphus balteatus and the multicolored Asian lady beetle Harmonia axyridis, eavesdrop on aphid chemical communication and utilize (E)-ß-farnesene as ...

Diversity of odorant-binding proteins and chemosensory proteins in insects.

Odour and pheromone perception occurs through a complex series of events, many aspects of which have been elucidated in the most recent years. The discovery of membrane-bound olfactory receptors, both in vertebrates and in insects, and their functional expression in heterologous systems have shown that they can be directly activated by odorant and pheromone molecules. Although a pathway of sign...
